Sharon Keene MD
As a fully trained general surgeon, Dr. Sharon Keene has been certified by the American Board of Surgery since 1989. After graduating from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 1984, she went on to complete a surgery residency program at the University of Arizona Health, Tucson Hospitals, between 1984 and 1989. Following residency training, Dr. Keene studied trauma and critical care, as well as Endocrine surgery with a desired practice in surgery, was invited to learn about the techniques of hair transplantation. At that time the predominant technique was still punch grafting. Dissatisfied with the unnatural appearing results these techniques produced, Dr. Keene did not pursue hair restoration full time until Dr. Ron Shapiro shared with her the techniques for incisional grafting, which reduced the risk of recipient area scarring dramatically. By the mid 1990's the technique of incisional grafting, and smaller incisions coupled with the increasing use of micrografts in larger numbers represented the earliest use of follicular unit megasessions in the industry. Dr. Keene, working in conjunction with dr. Ron Shapiro, was one of the surgeons who helped to pioneer the technique of Micro Follicular Unit Grafting in hair restoration surgery. She has worked in association with Dr. Ron Shapiro at the clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota while maintaining a private clinic in Tucson, Arizona. Both clinics were among the first in the field to offer follicular unit megasessions
